Terms of Use

Short, because the site does little: it records where place names came from, and it sells nothing. Reviewed August 8, 2026.

In one line: read it, cite it, write to it. Nothing is for sale and nothing here is advice.

Who publishes this

Rowan Logbook is published by Rowan Logbook LLC, a limited liability company registered with the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations. Its office is at 4348 Southpoint Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32216, its telephone is +1 (904) 296-5137, its editorial address is plats@rowanlogbook.com, and its editor is Delia Marchetti. The same details appear on about and in the footer of every page.

What this is

A register of place names. Each entry records the language a name came from, the year it was fixed, who fixed it, and what stands on that ground now, with the gaps left visible.

Rowan Logbook is a publication. It does not sell travel, arrange travel, book anything, take payments, or act for anybody, and it is not connected to any airline, airport, booking platform, or public body.

Nothing here is advice about a trip

Every entry is about a name. Nothing on this site is a recommendation about where to go, stay or eat, an assessment of a district's safety or suitability, or guidance for planning anything.

Arriving describes distances and groups the catalogue geographically. That is a description of a city's size, not a plan, and a reader who treats it as one is on their own.

Money, in every direction

Nothing is sold on this site: no product, no subscription, no membership, no download, no consultation, no service of any kind.

Because of that, several things other sites need are absent, and the absence is deliberate:

  • No payment is taken. No checkout, no cart, no card field, no payment processor, no invoice. This site never asks for a card number, a bank detail or a government identity number, on any page, for any reason. A page that appears to is not this site.
  • No refund policy is needed, because no money passes between a reader and Rowan Logbook LLC.
  • No goods are shipped, because there are none. Nothing is mailed, delivered or dispatched, and there are no delivery times, charges or areas.
  • No returns or exchanges exist, for the same reason.
  • No cancellation applies: there is no account, no recurring charge and no mailing list.

How this is paid for explains where the money does come from, which is a commission on the fare lookup and nothing else.

The fare lookup

Submitting the form on the fare search hands the query to a booking service on a subdomain of this domain, which is not operated by Rowan Logbook LLC. Any booking, payment, ticket, change or refund on that side is between the reader and that service under its own terms, and Rowan Logbook LLC is not a party to it and cannot intervene in it. A commission may be paid, and that is disclosed above the form as well as here.

Accuracy, and its limits

Every entry names the kind of record behind it, and checking a name explains how to read each kind. Five of the ten entries print what could not be established. That apparatus is the site's answer to "how would I know", and it does not make the register infallible.

Records get re-indexed, plat books get digitised, and a document that closes a gap can turn up at any time. To the extent the law allows, this publication is offered as it stands, and Rowan Logbook LLC does not promise an entry is complete or current. Where liability cannot be excluded it is limited to the amount a reader has paid Rowan Logbook LLC, which is nothing.

Other people's material

Names, documents and nominations belong to the bodies that made them, and are cited by title, reference number and date so a reader can reach the source. Naming a federal nomination, an agency or a records office is a citation and implies no endorsement, affiliation or connection whatsoever.

The writing, layout, typography, images and code are the work of Rowan Logbook LLC. Quoting a paragraph with attribution is welcome. Republishing an entry wholesale is not.

Using the site sensibly

Read it, print it, cite it, write to it. Do not attempt to break it, scrape it wholesale, or use the letter form to send anybody a message they did not ask for. Rowan Logbook LLC may decline correspondence that is abusive or automated.

Which law

These terms are governed by the law of Florida, and any dispute belongs to the courts sitting there. Nothing in that sentence removes a right a reader has under the law of their own home that cannot be removed by agreement.

If this page is wrong
